Lareb, Dutch centre for side effects of medicines, is officially designated as WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmacovigilance in Education and Patient Reporting. In caloberation with the WHO, Lareb sets up and develops educational programs for doctors, pharmasists and other medical professionals on side effects. Next to that, Lareb helps developing the reporting by patients on side effects. Larebs creates guidelines on how other countries can cope with awareness of side effects. Internationally speaking, patients are just starting to report side effects to the authorities. To be able to operate globally, the WHO makes use of experts in healthcare. It calls upon institutions that possess valuable (scientific) knowledge on the relevant subject matter. Lareb can offer this knowledge on the terrain of medicine side effects.
